Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030 includes 17 global aims that act as indicators for SDG’s development at national or international level. The SDG performance indicators are intertwined to gain a better future and for better sustainability for all.

SDGs was first introduced by the United Nations Annual General Assembly in 2015 and aimed to be achieved by 2030. The TWO (2) units that are currently upholding UiTM’s effort in SDG are:

IBSD Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainable Development

Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainable Development (IBSD), UiTM. IBSD was established on 15th June 2020. This institute was established as the backbone to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) impacts activities and initiatives for Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

IBSD envisioned to strengthen the research in biodiversity and sustainable development through international strategic partnership as well as securing grants and collaborative symposiums.

Mission: To be a globally renowned centre of excellence in championing research in biodiversity and sustainable development.
Vision:

  • To be a globally renowned centre of excellent via research and innovation
  • To be the knowledge advancement and referral centre for sustainable development and biodiversity.

UGC UiTM Green Centre
The establishment of UiTM Green Centre or better known as UGC was approved by the MEU meeting (34/2 2020) on the 21st of October 2020, under the portfolio of Deputy Vice Chancellor of Development, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). This initiative is in line with UiTM's Strategic Plan 2025 under the Strategic Theme 8 (Smart Campus) and to uphold the sustainability agenda of the university, community and the world.

UGC promotes dynamic and diversity in its operations where the key members are appointed among UiTM community; assisted by Expert Task Force (ETF) across faculties and with multidisciplinary expert who have a strong passion and interest to advocate the sustainable agenda of the university.

UGC focusing on greening campus through six environmental element mapping to six (6) clusters.

  5. Education and Research (ED)
