Malaysian Ambassador’s Support Will Improve UiTM’s Reputation In Türkiye
A courtesy call meeting was arranged between the UiTM Vice Chancellor and the Malaysian Ambassador to Türkiye, His Excellency Sazali Mustafa Kamal. In this meeting, the discussion focused on the programmes to be organised by the Association of Statutory Bodies of Malaysia (PBBM), and projects being worked on by the Accounting Research Institute (ARI), Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School (AAGBS), and UiTM Penang. It was mentioned that potential collaboration in academic and research will be looked at, focusing on the fields of Islamic Finance, Digital Technology, and Languages. It is hoped that the relationship between UiTM and the embassy would provide mutual benefits, particularly when there are needs for UiTM to travel abroad for academic visits, research projects, and industrial partnerships, in an effort to make UiTM a globally renowned university.
Dual-Degree In Mathematical Studies
On May 19, 2022, a delegation from UiTM met with officials from the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). The discussions centred on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in areas such as student mobility, joint teaching and learning activities, research and publications, and the possibility of offering dual degrees in Mathematical Studies. Academic appointments from both parties were also considered during the meeting.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Apprenticeship Programme was signed between UiTM and McDonald’s Malaysia. The event included a creative activity involving student volunteers and orphans, where they engaged in a batik workshop. Dato ‘Azmir Jaafar, the Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia, even purchased the best batik work, which was then donated to an orphanage. The collaboration between UiTM and McDonald’s Malaysia aims to offer career opportunities to a diverse range of students, including those from underprivileged backgrounds and individuals with special needs. The goal is to involve 4,000 students from 35 campuses, aligning with UiTM’s mission to enhance graduate employability. McDonald’s has committed to creating 50,000 new jobs by 2026 and investing RM300 million in training and development programs.
UiTM and Universitas Jayabaya Indonesia Renew Academic, Cultural and Scientific Collaboration, and Staff Exchange
On November 26 2021, the College of Engineering, UiTM renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Jayabaya, Indonesia, for three years. This ceremony was part of a larger MoU/MoA ceremony involving UiTM, the Ministry of Transportation Indonesia, Universitas Bakrie, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Universitas Jember, and Universitas Jayabaya, Indonesia. The UiTM Vice Chancellor highlighted that the threeyear renewal MoU strengthens cooperation between the two institutions, building on the success of previous collaborations such as the 2019 Summer School and the 2021 virtual student colloquium. These activities facilitated cultural and academic exchanges between students and the sharing of research through online webinars. UiTM and Universitas Jayabaya have committed to extending their MoU due to their active involvement. Future plans include organising symposia, conferences, short courses, student exchanges, and faculty/staff institutional exchanges. The agreement underscores the importance of knowledge transfer and innovation in various engineering disciplines to meet society’s needs.

Academy of Language Studies, UiTM Kedah Formed a partnership With K. J. Somaiyya College of Arts
The Academy of Language Studies (APB) of UiTM Kedah Branch plays a crucial role in UiTM’s quest to become a Globally Renowned University (GRU) 2025 by maintaining international partnerships. A recent initiative called the “Window to the Borderless World: Intercultural Communication via International Collaboration Project/Student Mentoring Programme,” was concluded with a ceremony on January 25, 2022. This program involved 363 students from both institutions and 20+ lecturers and facilitators.
This unique online intercultural program aimed to teach students the importance of intercultural communication. Ms Syazliyati Ibrahim from APB, UiTM Kedah led this project while Dr Ravindra Jadhav of K.J. Somaiya College coordinated the project on the Indian side. Ten lecturers from APB, UiTM Kedah, and K. J. Somaiya College actively facilitated Google Meet sessions alongside the main committee.
In the closing ceremony, Professor Dr Haji Mohamad Abdullah bin Haji Hemdi, Rector of UiTM Kedah Branch, highlighted the project’s success in fostering intercultural understanding and bringing different cultures together. Professor Dr Birendra Singh Yadav, Principal of K. J. Somaiyya College of Arts, Commerce & Science, India, commended the program for exposing rural students to the world and inspiring them to become global citizens.
