UiTM at the Forefront in Pioneering Quality Education
In the sixth episode of CTWR 2022, which was broadcast live via the UITM YouTube channel, the focus was on “Global Goals: UITM at the Forefront in Pioneering Quality Education.” The panel featured Professor Datin Dr Suzana Sulaiman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UITM), and Mr Rasydan Mohd Hassan, President of the Student Representative Council (MPP). Professor Datin Dr Suzana discussed UITM’s commitment to quality education, emphasizing the importance of the quality of lecturers, teaching and learning processes, and graduates. The Centre for Innovative Delivery & Learning Development (CIDL) plays a significant role in driving educational innovation, according to the speaker. The discussion focused on UITM’s collaborative teaching framework and the 5C strategy. It stressed the importance of adapting the curriculum to align with industry needs, promoting extracurricular learning for a better student experience, and keeping the curriculum relevant in the context of Industry Revolution 4.0 and Education 5.0.
UiTM Welcomes 22 New Partners from the World’s Leading Hotels
A significant event took place at the Westin Kuala Lumpur as UiTM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Marriott International (Malaysia), involving 22 strategic hotel partners. These partners encompass a range of hotels, including Aloft, Courtyard, Four Points, Le Meridien, Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, and Westin properties. This collaboration aims to bolster future talent in the hospitality and tourism industry by providing UiTM students with opportunities for practical training, parttime employment, and management trainee roles through the MUSE program. Additionally, the MAPE program is set to enhance staff competencies through Training of Trainers methods and industry-related training. The Faculty of Hotel & Tourism Management played a pivotal role in the success of the initiative, and the partnership is expected to increase the employability of UiTM graduates and enhance the university’s global reputation.
International IIARI Luminary Awards Presented to UiTM Lecturers
IIARI in the Philippines, a partner of Universiti Teknologi MARA, held the ILA awards in December 2021, celebrating excellence in education, research, leadership, and civic engagement. These awards aim to inspire and honor individuals making remarkable contributions globally. They promote a community of lifelong learners and servants, fostering leadership and service. Award categories include Teaching, Research, Civic Works, and Leadership. Kudos to IIARI for facilitating this platform. The digital ceremony hosted by Professor Mary Jane S. Carandang featured UiTM lecturers Ts Dr Duratul Ain Tholibon and Ts Dr Masyitah Md Nujid as finalists in Research and Teaching. Their achievements were celebrated with certificates and plaques, encouraging educators worldwide to embrace research and innovation, fostering a global research culture and collaboration, aligning with SDG No. 17, Partnership for the Goals.

Students of Art and Design have been Chosen for the Unicorn Scholar Programme at UiTM
Two students from UiTM’s Faculty of Art & Design, Abdul Hafy Shah bin Abd Halim Shah from the Printing Technology Department and Siti Nur Nadia from the Textile Design Department, have been selected as finalists for the Unicorn Scholar Programme (USP). This prestigious program, a collaboration between UiTM, the Malaysian Academy of SME and Entrepreneurship Development (MASMED), the Ministry of Higher Education, and UiTM Business Network Alumni (ALUMNI BIZNET), provides a platform for students to showcase their entrepreneurial talents in a real-world business setting. Abdul Hafy Shah is the founder of AHS Ideas, a startup specializing in robotics classes. His company leverages robotic and augmented reality technologies to develop innovative classroom materials. Siti Nur Nadia’s venture, Dinda Apparel, focuses on printed scarves and incorporates augmented reality on its website for virtual fitting during online shopping, revolutionizing textile printing and digital fashion.Unicorn Scholar Programme offers students mentorship by successful UiTM entrepreneurial alumni and equips them with essential entrepreneurial skills and strategies. This collaboration strengthens the entrepreneurial culture, fostering a supportive ecosystem for student businesses. UiTM’s commitment to producing well-rounded graduates, enhancing employability, and encouraging entrepreneurship aligns with this partnership.

CIMA Global University and Academic Excellence Awards
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has launched the CIMA Global University and Academic Excellence Awards to recognise academicians’ contributions to the success of CIMA students and graduates. CIMA seeks to provide the recipients recognition and reputation among companies and students by promoting the institution as a prime CIMA partner through the CIMA Academic Partner Excellence Awards. The award will increase the institution’s profile within the worldwide accounting profession and provide it with a competitive advantage. CIMA received 400 nominations, and two instructors from the Faculty of Accountancy, UiTM, were nominated as top five finalists. They received two awards each. Associate Professor Dr Tuan Zainun Tuan Mat received the Global Gold award for the CIMA Teaching Excellence Award (influential lecturer) category, as well as the Global Silver awards for the CIMA Campus Culture Excellence awards. This award honours a CIMA topic professor who has shown exceptional engagement with CIMA students and assisted them in improving their understanding of the subject presented. Professor Dr Datin Suzana Sulaiman was named Regional Champion (Asia Pacific) in the area of CIMA Teaching Excellence Award (CIMA Coursework Teaching). She was also awarded the CIMA Research Excellence Awards for Outstanding Contribution in Malaysia. The CIMA Research Excellence Award honours recipients who have made significant contributions to fields and topics connected to the CIMA syllabus, such as accounting, digital finance, strategy, and others.

UiTM Engages with The James Dyson Foundation to Educate and Motivate Students Link
The James Dyson Foundation and Innovation Lab UiTMUTHM, in collaboration with ICAN at UiTM’s College of Engineering, hosted a live sharing and Q&A session on April 13, 2022, introducing The James Dyson Award 2022. This event aimed to inspire students to participate in the competition, which encourages creative engineering ideas. James Dyson Foundation, a UK-based charity, promotes innovation and learning from mistakes. The annual James Dyson Award recognizes inventive talents among university students worldwide, particularly in engineering. The event featured Dyson engineers discussing design principles and the company’s unique approach. This session, co-organized with Fraunhofer IEM in Germany, drew 50 attendees from within and outside UiTM. It marked the first step in UiTM and UTHM innovation labs’ support for students interested in the James Dyson Award.
