Financial Literacy Outreach: Empowering Orphans for a Brighter Future

A total of 39 students from the Bachelor of Finance Administration (Hons.) from the Institute of Continuing Education and Professional Studies (iCEPS), Shah Alam, held a programme with orphans at the Wardatul Jannah Orphans Foundation in Kota Damansara. The programme, titled “Linking Together with Orphans”, aimed to provide students with the opportunity to care for orphans by sharing knowledge in finance and education. The programme also aimed to strengthen friendship ties among students and foster relationships with the concept of “role models” for orphans. The participants engaged in outdoor activities such as “Money Jenga”, “Financial Obstacles”, “Pouring Water”, “Musical Chairs”, and other unique budgeting games to test their financial literacy and knowledge. The programme, categorised under academic and student development, aimed to enhance students’ learning and personal development by providing practical experience in applying academic knowledge of financial literacy in a real-world context.

Kotak Rezeki 4 Siswa: MPP Touch of Love Initiative in Student Rental Houses

A total of 125 sustenance boxes were distributed to more than 700 nonresident students of UiTM Shah Alam and UiTM Selangor Branch as a welfare initiative by the Student Representative Council (MPP) of UiTM Shah Alam. This was in collaboration with the Non-Resident Management Unit of UiTM Shah Alam and Selangor Branch to help students who reside outside of residential colleges.

The Kotak Rezeki 4 Siswa initiative, a project managed by the MPP UiTM Shah Alam, aims to foster collaboration with administrators and student leaders to address and respond to the complaints of students, especially those who reside around Shah Alam, Puncak Alam and Puncak Perdana. This programme also received sponsorship by Mydin, who contributed 50 boxes of dry food worth RM3,000 to be distributed to students in need.

“The UiTM Student Affairs Department is always concerned with the welfare of UiTM students. Congratulations to MPP, UPNR and all parties involved. Hopefully this effort can be continued in the future.” Thus was the remark by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs, YBhg Prof Dr Hj Mohd Sazili Shahibi, in his brief speech when greeting the students at their residence.

Empowering Youth: Personal Financial Management Seminar at SMK Telok Gadong

The SULAM initiative was launched by the Ministry of Higher Education to combine learning objectives with community service in education. As part of this initiative, 109 Form 4 students from SMK Telok Gadong attended a seminar organised by 43 students of the Bachelor of Finance Administration (Hons.) programme from the Institute of Continuing Education and Professional Studies (iCEPS), Shah Alam. The programme was conducted as part of the project assignment for the Personal Financial Planning (FIN533) subject, which aimed to expose the community to financial knowledge and awareness in managing finances. The seminar began with a talk by Financial Planning Consultant, Azraei Muhamad Bin Idros, titled “Personal Financial Management: If You Don’t Continue Studying, Can You Become Rich?” Participants then engaged in hands-on group training activities, such as the “Money Mindset Challenge” and the “Spin the Wheel” game. The programme aimed to provide continuous benefits to students and the community, indirectly contributing to SDG 1: No Poverty.
